Has Curiel been on the case since the beginning? Also, whenever he took this case on, why wouldn’t Trump’s legal team challenge his connections and potential conflict of interest at the outset?

I don't know if the judge has been involved at the beginning, but I don't think the Trump team thought there was an issue until the judge ruled against him repeatedly, in ways that some would consider to be judicial misconduct.

However, I don't know why they haven't filed a motion for recusal. I think they should have done that, and let it speak for itself -- rather than Trump complaining publicly.
