“Lillyhammer”—Steve Van Zandt-—quite good.

Try Turner Classics. Try movies from the golden era of Hollywood or the beauty of foreign film. There is so much out there that is so much better than today’s dreck.

I watched “Tampopo” on YouTube last weekend. Considered the first of the “Ramen Westerns”. The hero truck driver does wear a cowboy hat...
British TV producers make short TV series which end up feeling like an 8-10 hour movie. Good for a rainy day.
Fortitude is one such series that has a lot of dramatic twists and turns.
Watched “The Brothers Grimsby” earlier today. Irreverent to the extreme but a laugh from start to end. Doubt it is on Netflix yet but keep an eye out for it. It is truly horrible and completely hilarious. Movie opens with a man and a woman on a bed engaged in relations. Then the camera pans out a bit to show it is a mattress store. The man looks up at the shocked salesperson and says “We will take it”. The guy gets the mattress home and his kids are pushing on the back of the mattress to get it up the stairs. One of the 9 of them says hold on dad, I am getting winded. Dad says I told you not to smoke. The 10’ish year old kid says, what do you mean cigarettes? I thought you meant crack. Dad says, you are to young to smoke... At your age you should be vapeing. That is all in the first two minutes. It goes south from there.
I’m watching the new season of “Bloodlines” and “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix. Both are great. Also, “Murdoch Mysteries” set in early 1900’s in Toronto. Just finished season 9...
Bloodline
I use moviessurfer.com, so I don’t know what is on netflix, but here is a list of movies I’ve recently seen that I liked:
Daddy’s Home (good cast)
Ex Machina (about a robot trying to pass the turing test, some nudity)
Deadpool (funny but crude)
Edge of Tomorrow (good tom cruise movie w/ emily blunt)
Interstellar (3 hrs but very good, as good as 2001, to me)
Jurassic World (the best sequel of the first)
London Has Fallen (action)
Trainwreck*
“Buck”
Just finished season 1 “The Wire” on Amazon Prime.
Bloodlines. Second season just released, but you’ll want to start with the first. Great characters, drama, and twists.
I just watched Bloodline (drama) on Netflix and The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. It’s a Phillip Dick story of what it would be like if the Nazis and Japanese won WWII.
Also the first two seasons of Murder in Paradise.
Actually I like Tom Cruises movies and think hes a real good actor. On a personal level he might be off but it doesn’t seem like hes a bad guy. Alec Baldwin and Sean Penn OTOH are really bad guys.
