Anything that goes on for 17 years can’t be bad. But I liked the original actor better. He was amazing, his mouth barely moved!

A forgotten favorite.

Best WWII movie to me is Kelly’s Heroes. There are a lot that come close to taking that place on my favorites list.

Netflix just recently added The Republic of Doyle (Canadian TV series). It is sort of like the old Rockford Files — a bit of comedy in a detective series.

I use moviessurfer.com, so I don’t know what is on netflix, but here is a list of movies I’ve recently seen that I liked:

Daddy’s Home (good cast)
Ex Machina (about a robot trying to pass the turing test, some nudity)
Deadpool (funny but crude)
Edge of Tomorrow (good tom cruise movie w/ emily blunt)
Interstellar (3 hrs but very good, as good as 2001, to me)
Jurassic World (the best sequel of the first)
London Has Fallen (action)
Trainwreck*

John Nettles. He was the engine of the show with dry but sometimes bitting humor.

We taped the 1936 Show Boat off of TCM and will be watching it tonight. Helen Morgan, Irene Dunne, Paul Robeson. A classic and a treat.

Have you ever seen the late-1940s biopic of Jerome Kern, titled "Til The Clouds Roll By"? My wife found it on Netflix or Amazon recently and it was pretty good. It starts with a 20-minute condensed production of Show Boat and then flashes back to Kern's beginnings as a songwriter. The biopic part was a bit flat, but the production numbers sprinkled throughout make up for it. Lots of big-name performers appeared in it - never thought I'd ever see Sinatra singing "Ol' Man River".

Caution: pulp fiction has a sodomy rape scene.

But the part right after is really, really good.

Operation Crossbow (1965) Trailer

Pretty good flick - though I thought Peppard was better in the previous war ("The Blue Max").

“Vudu.”

What is Vudu? I want to see that movie it seems quite interesting. It’s a very clever angle to the story.

“Bloodlines”

That show is intense. Our son-in-law turned us on to it.

I also really like Bosch on Amazon Prime.

“New Netflix sitcom called The Ranch, yes it has Ashton Kutcher in it, but Sam Elliott turns in a great performance”

Saw the first couple episodes a while back, its a Dramedy. Seemed like it had potential, the laugh track just irritated hell out of me. I stopped watching.

Highly recommend the UK series Doc Martin on Netflix, but apparently its getting pulled the first of July. At least that is the message I get when starting a new Episode. Im watching start to finish for the 2nd time.

Thanks. I’ll hang in there with it I guess. After I finish Daredevil, of course.

Bloodlines. Second season just released, but you’ll want to start with the first. Great characters, drama, and twists.

I just watched Bloodline (drama) on Netflix and The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. It’s a Phillip Dick story of what it would be like if the Nazis and Japanese won WWII.
