Apparently there was plenty of warning, from a child unwilling to accept a ‘no’. I had a stubborn little boy too - and that’s when a parent should be on full alert.

‘Things happen’ usually when parents are being irresponsible.

There’s no proof the animal would have killed him. These things have happened before with neither kid or animal killed. They had other ways, they ignored them all, they killed the animal purely out of their own gross incompetence.

Are you serious? Do you wait until the gorilla kills him or do you try to reason with a gorilla to give up the kid? I don't understand people like you. A child was in danger. A HUGE GORILLA was dragging him around and tossing him around like a rag doll. And you want to wait to see IF the gorilla would have killed him??? The KID is alive for CERTAIN because of the actions they took.

A 4 year old doesn’t just wander into the gorilla enclosure. That child had to be negligently minded. Probably by a crowd of the usual ghetto moms I see all over the Zoo. I wouldn’t drive down MLK Drive to the Zoo without my CC. Its in a ghetto.

It’s been done in the past. Send in the keepers, work the animal into their pen. They DO have the ability to control the animals without tranqs. I want them to TRY some other method. Have the gun around if things look to be not working but TRY to handle it without the gun. After all, this isn’t the first time this has happened, and most of the previous times they got the kids out without killing the animal. So clearly it can be done, has been done, could be done if the zoo in question isn’t run by morons.

Okay. If your 3 year old in there getting manhandled by a gorilla let them "try" different things to get your 3 year out safe and sound. With my 3 year old I'll tell them to shoot the gorilla every single time.

All your hyperbole doesn’t change the facts. And the fact is other zoos have managed to save both. This zoo screwed up, they didn’t even try any other route, they had the time, but they didn’t do it. They killed the animal because of their own stupidity.

Boy, you have an active imagination.

Evidently you’ve either never had kids, or you are so old you have no idea what they are like these days. How many thousands of toddlers have been to that zoo and did not jump into the cage?

I am sure his mother had him under control.

I am sure the zoo would love to have you on the lawsuit jury that’s coming.

Sure, keep the gun around until they think they need it? What if when they finally figure out they need it and they can’t get a clear shoot without hitting the kid. Think how you would feel.

When is the outrage over the parents of 15 year old punk that fired a gun on Fountain Square Sat. night? Why isn’t everyone screaming about the parents that raised? him?

Give up, we will never get through to them. If it was their kid/GK they would feel completely different.

I guess I’m a bad grandmother because my grandson fell down at the playground last week and skinned his elbow? If I had been watching him better maybe it wouldn’t have happened. SMH

I've have kids and grandkids. You have NO idea of the parenting skills of the kid and mom. You have no idea of the circumstances of exactly what happened. If ONE kid can get into the gorilla habitat then ANY kid could get into the gorilla habitat. This was a 3 year old with no reasoning skills at all. However it happened and no matter what the parenting skills of the mother/father the end result is that the kids life is infinitely more valuable then the life of the gorilla. The amount of venom you're directing toward the parent and the kid because the zoo chose the the life of the kid over that of the gorilla is just plain alien.

I know such a weird reaction they're having.

Please show me where I indicated that I thought the animal’s life was more important.

Have you listened to the video on that tape, because if you haven’t you should. You can hear how out of control that kid is.

I am amazed that you give the parents a complete pass.

That animal did not need to die. If the parent, like every single other parent that has ever come into the zoo, had kept their child under the proper control none of this would have been necessary.

Please bone up on your reading comprehension because you are not reading the words. Your are inserting your own idiotic point of view on others words.

And please, let this go. You and I clearly have had different life experiences. I am figuring it was your kids that I had to drive home in college because they were not responsible enough to handle themselves.

I was going to let it go but had to set things straight. My two daughters run my businesses. So they are and have been responsible.

Clearly the difference in our opinions lay where blame is to be accessed for shooting a gorilla. You apparently feel that somehow a parent whom you don't know and whom you've never met......due to parenting skills of which you're utterly and completely ignorant of...bears some responsibility for a gorilla being shot that was threatening the life of her child. Further you seem to think that the "out of control" 3 year old also bears responsibility since it was his "out of control" behavior that landed him in the moat. You have no basis in reality to take such a stance other than a snap judgment based on a few seconds of grainy video. Like it or not that's what it boils down to.

On the other hand I am thankful a child was saved from death even if it meant killing a gorilla to do it and assign no blame to the parent or the child for any role in the death of a gorilla. Accidents happen and they happen with 3 year old's a lot.
