I maintained robots for years and it did help me to anthropomorphize them when troubleshooting.

I don’t see the utility of the “pain” concept however.
Just tell it not to do that.

I “push the button” for four robots at an auto parts plant.
New people say I have the easiest job, until my girls have their “time of the month”. Then nobody wants to be around me or them!!!
