” There wasnt a Dave Brat running against John Cornyn in his senate primary and unless there is such a competitor running against Ted Cruz, he will likewise be reelected. “

Dewhurst could give Cruz a run, if he chose to.
Cruz held Dewhurst under 50 in that Senate election, forcing the run off that nobody came to, except the religiously political religious Right. Cruz won that run off with 4% of the Republican vote, I read.
Off that 4% he launched a presidential run the next day.
What a guy. He used that Senate seat as only a springboard stop. Doubt he even likes that job.
Where did you read that?
The primary results were Dewhurst 44.8%, Cruz 34.2%, Leppert 13.3%, and another half-dozen in single digits.
The runoff came in 56.8% Cruz to 43.2% Dewhurst. That's a lot wider than 4%.
In the general, Cruz got 56.6%, the 'Rat got 40.5%, the Losertarian took 2.1%, and the Watermelon 0.9%.

Dewhurst could give Cruz a run, if he chose to....
Yeah, and there are unicorns in real life (sarcasm).
Dewhurst lost in 2012 to Ted Cruz, then in 2014 lost his Lt. Gov position to Dan Patrick. Plus he’s 70 years old. There’s been a changing of the guard in Texas politics and old timey establishment guys are not in demand for the top positions. Even young ones like George P. won’t be pushed forward with the top guys having no Bush ties to bind them.
