The dumpster fire that is the national superstore known as Target has had quite a rough time lately. And is it any wonder? They cant seem to get their act together when it comes to pleasing their customers.
First they ban guns within their stores because safety.
Then they began allowing men into womens restrooms because equality.
Then they are currently suing a guy who stopped another guy from stabbing a girl to death because well, because theyre dumb.
The American people responded, and as can be expected, Targets ship has begun to sink. Not only did well over a million people sign the petition to boycott the store, the stock is slipping into the drink. Fewer and fewer people want to shop there, because frankly the store is unsafe. Especially to women who cant carry a gun into the restroom a man just followed them into, and no one can save her should something happen because Target might sue the rescuer.
This all seems pretty obvious, and in no way confusing. People dont want to shop at Target, because Target is a bad place to shop.
This apparently isnt obvious to the CEO, though. According to him, nobody wants to shop at his stores because of and I cant believe I have to report this weather.
Im not kidding. Target CEO Brian Cornell told the Wall Street Journal that the reason sales are down is because people just dont want to go out and buy stuff because its raining outside in some parts of the country.
Despite weakness in the first half of the year, Target said it still considers its full-year earnings forecast achievable. Mr. Cornell said the spending slowdown at the start of the year was the result of consumer caution and unusually cold and wet weather in certain regions.
Its been a very wet and cold start to the year and its reflected in our sales, he said. We havent seen anything from a structural standpoint that gives us pause.
Nothing but the million+ strong boycott, including those who havent voiced, yet refuse to shop. Apparently, the people speaking out against Targets practices, and refusing to support them with their wallet, does not give the company pause.
I cant think of a better way to signal to consumers that you dont want their business.
#NeverTarget
I would say that Target’s investors consider him to be a Target.
It’s the Globull Worming, don’t you know! All those white guys and their SUV’s — it’s a hate crime, I tell ya!
I’d have to start shopping at Target, to stop shopping at Target.
Weather? The stockholders have other reasons for the downturn.
The rain. Yeppers, that’s the reason.
All because you assholes love queers ... queerer than queers, actually ! !
That’s why Walmart’s business increased for the same period. Yeah, they are in such different geographical areas, weather is bad at Target, but good at Walmart.
More like this.
Based on what I am seeing locally, the empty parking lots are to blame.
Wal-Mart profit, revenue beat expectations; US sales up more than expected (Target Down- Surprise!)
Aren't corporate statements like that actionable by the shareholders?
The weather was better at WalMart I guess.
Lately, shopping at target has been a huge disappointment and waste of my time. Cheap overpriced junk - reminds me of ikea or walmart. And after seeing a particular “element” today hanging out in the coffee shop, I won’t be going back.
I can forsee the future and LOTS of Dark Clouds will hang heavy over the Target stores.
Somebody needs to parachute into spending more time with his fam....
He’s probably right. It’s an ill wind blowing through Targets restroom doors. ;-) Target is dead to me.
I’m going to miss the polyester clothes and the $5 ground beef, but I am not going back.
I observe same. Can be difficult to get a parking spot at the new super Walmart.
I never shopped at Target often, but I was out of town with my 8 year-old daughter this weekend. I had to buy a couple things for her recital, and the only real store in the area was a Target. I ended up driving a few miles out of the way and spending more at a small pharmacy, but it felt good to do so.
