“He also fought the Soviets during the Winter War.”

Christopher Lee was an interesting guy...

Grew up with Ian Fleming, as a cousin.

Medical washout in flight school, he volunteered for Air Force Intelligence, later getting a Commission.

He was the Squadron Intelligence Officer in North Africa for a P-40 Squadron, and operated “Several times” with the SAS Long-Range Desert Patrols, the “Desert Rats” into enemy-held areas.

In Italy he again “Cooperated” on several SAS operations, particularly in support of the Italian Resistance.

Fought with the Gurkhas of the 8th Indian Infantry Division during the Battle of Monte Cassino, as part of a temporary Officer Swap.

When the War ended, he became part of an intelligence group going through the POW Camps looking for NAZI War Criminals, and investigated the Concentration/Death Camps.

His cousin, an Italian resistance member, became the Italian Ambassador to Britain after the war, and it is believed that Lee, with a command of several languages, including passable Russian, and worldwide travel, was an UK Intelligence “Asset” long after the war ended.
