I had a HS classmate go up Everest and had a disaster. Beck Weathers from Burkburnett. He was very lucky to get back but he lost all his toes, both hands, and his nose. He was left for dead on Everest twice. Everest, no matter who you are and how much help one has, is not for the faint of strength and heart.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

Beck Weathers is a testament to the incredible durability of the human spirit. On the trip that cost him so many body parts, he lay unprotected overnight on the mountain with his face in the snow, then awoke the next morning and walked back into camp.
A lot of people died that season.
Read Jon Krakauer's "Into Thin Air." Incredible stories.

Was Beck Weathers a doctor? I seem to remember reading his book I have a fascination for reading books about climbing Mt. Everest. After reading so many, they all start running together.
