There used to be a lot of Frenchmen and Italians living in what is now Chinatown. Philippe’s is one of the last remnants of the French community. On the other side of Chinatown across the Pasadena Freeway, one can get huge meatball and Italian sausage sandwiches at the Eastside Market, a family-owned eatery that is one of the last remnants of the Italian community

If I remember correctly (is there an abbreviation for that?);
there is a major intersection atop what was the French cemetery, and Olvera Street (Hispanic icon) was originally Italian, then made Mexican by city fiat based on one house and one freaking tree.
