No..in the Middle Ages when life was cold short and brutal...the weapon of choice was the English Long Bow.

The French used to cut off those two fingers of any captured English soldiers

And prior to a battle...the English archers would raise their two fingers at the French....in anticipation of raining down a hail of arrows on their enemy.

Excellent! In my 68 years, that is the first time I've heard that explanation.
