Sometimes it seems like Hollywood execs deliberately sabotage their movies and TV shows. Why go out of your way to piss off half or more of your potential audience before the movie opens? I just continue to not get it.

Hollywood execs are missing the most important point. Just as millions enjoy hearing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, some for the 205th time, so do they truly enjoy watching 75 years of GREAT movies, on TV, for the XXXth time.
Many people claim that they have watched (their favorite) so often, they can turn the sound OFF, and sit there reciting the lines, and sitting at home.
They boast of the dollars taken in, but at today’s prices, what is the count of “bottoms in the seats?”
They’ll learn the hard way.

Yeah, it’s like putting in Miley Cyrus as a judge on “The Voice”. My first thought: they’re trying to kill this show. It’s no secret that Hollywood has completely burned out the singing talent-show genre.

I’d bet anything that NBC has long-term contracts that they have to keep paying out on. But if the show’s ratings dip low enough, they can cancel the show and make it all go away. That’s the only explanation for putting that fruitcake up there, it’s a sure-fire way to make everybody run for the exits.
