Most of my hardware is no longer usable. I have printers, scanners and such that do not work on new machines. It should not be that big of a programing effort if the companies really wanted you to use old stuff. Follow the money, there is only one reason for windows 10, corporate profits along the road.
That is the same situation I faced. I have device programmers, lab instrumentation, and exotic development tools. I dropped back to XP, and now run behind a Linux firewall. Everything is back to normal.
