One thing I’m not seeing, which is vital to having a civil war, is a large, cohesive ideological force. To my knowledge no significant groups are meeting and making plans. We are a long way from civil war. As long as we can sway the body politic we have a civil safety valve. You can say that elections are stolen and therefore not fair. But both sides make those claims every cycle.
There are riots but they are entirely from one side of the spectrum and they are entirely about personal profit and not political change. You could argue that the sudden increase in the murder rate resulting from police pulling back on enforcement is political change, but it is the people who riot who are reaping the “benefit” of this change.
Exactly true(!).. personal profit
That is why we see flat screen TV's , beer, etc. being carried out of commercial establishments, always in the minority community.
Immediate Hedonism and self-graticifcation - political change comes much later, if ever, sorta incidental to the fact.
First rule about fight club is that you do not talk about fight club.
“You can say that elections are stolen and therefore not fair. But both sides make those claims every cycle.”
It’s the left that seems to accuse the right of doing exactly what the left is doing or trying to do, and by any means necessary.
...have jobs to work, mortgages to pay, new trucks, boats and ATV's to pay off, weekend soccer and little league games with the small kids and the occasional weekend visit with the older kid up at university, nobody is going to have time.
Maybe next week.......
I have been thinking about this too for a long time. I can not see how a civil war or even a state secession could actually come about. I agreee with you regarding the lack of a cohesive ideological force. The only thing that I can see is if the Feds to get rid of the second ammendment. Thoughts?
