I many years ago I had to drive up to Ft Ritchie, MD and then to our spaces in Site R. The Catoctin Mts during the fall was some of the most stunningly beautiful scenery I have ever seen.Glad you had the opportunity. It's not a world-famous site, even though it's just gorgeous; many Marylanders just take it for granted. But having traveled in Switzerland and Germany, I really love it.

...But having traveled in Switzerland and Germany, I really love it. I was in Germany, around Panzer Kaserne in Winter. I was driving to a friend's house at night, it was snowing and the mountains and valley were just like a post card. It was the quintessential portrait of Germany and so remarkably beautiful.

No surprise that many of our advertising/media depictions of Christmas in past decades reflected the winter countryside scenes of Germany and Switzerland. Just breathtaking.

The Grand Tetons have always been one of my very favorite spots!
