Arguing with any committed leftist, whether a mushy idealist or a power grabber, whether a stupid and or uneducated street bum or a Harvard graduate, is unprofitable to both parties. It is a tenet of all varieties of leftism from squishy liberal to hard core Communist that reality is aa mental construct, a figment of the imagination, thus something is true because he says it is true and no other reason is necessary. It doesn't mean that He knows the facts of the world because there is no world outside of his mind.

I have tried arguing with an old friend who has pretensions to intellectuality and get the same thing from him. There is your reality and there is my reality and mine is wrong because it didn't arise from his mind.

So I ask why do you try so hard to eliminate all things that are wrong if it is all in your own brain? Why don't you just declare all the rest of us nonconforming philistines to be nonexistent? Doesn't that fix everything? He does not answer that. He reverts to telling me where I am so wrong about reality and why there are no facts. This is a condition, maybe a syndrome that cannot be cured by reason or treatment because the leftist denies that there is any reason. While he talks about rationality and tells me I am irrational he at the same time denies the existence of rationality.
