Six years ago I adopted an abused Rottweiler puppy and named him Harley. A few months later we adopted a three legged pit pull puppy and named him Trooper. We got him the day that he had his leg removed and he was about the same age as Harley - about three months. They bonded. When trooper was in pain, Harley would bring him a toy and lay it down in front of him. When the other dogs were horsing around and getting rough, Harley would keep them from stepping on Trooper. They’re still best buddies.

We’ve fostered around 90 dogs and cats and we’ve learned that it’s a good idea to get two animals at the same time. They have to be in quarantine for at least a month and it gives them some company. They usually bond and give each other company.
