In this case ruse, two types of life vests were shown by the NTSB in its factual report as having been worn by the plane occupants.

OTOH, perhaps not all the life vests were recovered or reported by the plane occupants. Here's what was being strapped-on and sported by one of the females--yes--female--on the flight! It appears to be a combination life jacket and um... er.. um.. package.
