(CNN)Malia Obama, the oldest of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's two daughters, will attend Harvard University.

She'll begin there in the fall of 2017, after taking a gap year, the White House announced Sunday. She'll be a member of the class of 2021. Obama said at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday that his family plans to stay in Washington for two years after his presidency ends so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, can finish high school.

Funny how none of these Presidential kids ever wind up at State College.

Well, it’s not as if they could keep it secret where she goes to college. Even if they didn’t say anything right now, come the first day of school, her fellow students would tweet and text and call and say, guess who is in my class.......

A gap year means the odds are she won’t be going to college. Is she going to lazy around, or party hearty, or get a job to pay her way? Gap years are jokes.

I think it has become an entitlement for Democrat presidents started by the Clintons. Gerry Ford’s son attended Utah State in the 70’s but then his father was a Republican.

Naw, the msm would have been all over this no matter what. There is no privacy.

What’s strange is the decision coming this late. Mine were accepted and decided on their choice by October of their senior years. I suspect after a lot of whining and procrastinating, Daddy decided for her and that’s the reason for the ridiculous gap year excuse.

Until now, that was a British custom.

Kids where we live usually take a “gap” year because they were deferred at their chosen school or need an extra year at a prep school. Could also be she’s very immature.

Imagine the terror a professor would feel if she failed to achieve a passing grade.

Wouldn't surprise me that Harvard wouldn't take her unless she took some remedial courses first, even a cushy liberal arts major with sympathetic professors might be well beyond her skillset at Harvard.

Academic standards are waived at Ivy Leagues if daddy signs a big enough check. Or if you’re the top black kid your school.

Nothing but diploma mills for the world’s rich kids and affirmative actioners

The only Whore-vard diplomas I wouldn’t wipe my ass with are those earned by poor whites and asians

It just seems that there’s more to this than meets the eye. I don’t see Malia as some do-gooder who wants to spend a year helping those less fortunate before she embarks on her college career. As I said before, most kids her age can’t wait to get off to college. Something else is at play here.

My daughter-in-law is a Harvard grad and not from a poor family or Asian. She got in because she’s damned smart.

Chelsea Clinton redux

The whole family will be Clinton redux. I fully expect to see Michelle running for a senate seat while Obama starts his "Obama Global Initiative" slush fund.

They've learned from the best.

Heck, Michelle may even try her hand at the First Woman President title.

Two thoughts:

1. Maybe Malia can join the military for awhile.

2. Which does her appearance favor - nobama or Moochelle?

Gap years are jokes.

They're becoming more common lately, particularly as adolescence is extended and adulthood pushed further and further away.

Bum around for a year or two before college. If you're well-heeled, go backpack across Europe. Go out and party, sow your wild oats, start college at 20 or so.

Might as well. It's not like there are awesome careers out there waiting for you to graduate.

If she’s from a rich family, people will assume someone made a “donation”

Just like most will assume black people got in and graduated with lower grades (see Obama)

PC and selling-out has destroyed the reputation of all these schools. Sad for the hard-working people who really deserve to be there

One more majority to fatten the quota at Harvard. The only group they can discriminate against are the Asians, who would otherwise make up over half the enrolled students, and 75% of the Honors students.

“What I’d like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for everybody who’s willing to work for it,” Obama said in a White House video posted Thursday evening. “It’s something we can accomplish, and it’s something that will train our workforce so that we can compete with anybody in the world.”

Guess The Obmanation didn’t want his “chile” to go to community college.
