(CNN)Malia Obama, the oldest of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama's two daughters, will attend Harvard University.

She'll begin there in the fall of 2017, after taking a gap year, the White House announced Sunday. She'll be a member of the class of 2021. Obama said at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday that his family plans to stay in Washington for two years after his presidency ends so that their youngest daughter, Sasha, can finish high school.

I agree, I just said I hope.

I would love to see Obama angry over his own daughter’s decency.

OMG! What is that building? Trump Tower? A house is under construction not far from me that looks like a slightly smaller version of that building. Please tell me that Trump is not coming to live in Houston.

Nah, there's no chance. Malia is a victim of groupthink. If Obama had a son, there might be a slight chance that he would rebel and become a Conservative, LOL.

“did anyone actually think she would attend a lowly state (serf) school instead of Harvard or Yale?”

The lowly serf schools are entirely gubmint funded. Harvard makes money.

Yup.

And never show up at the office except to take credit for what the others there were doing.

Whatever academic standards these schools maintain go out the window when the children of Democrat presidents apply for school. I often wondered how Chelsea Clinton, who never struck me as particularly intelligent, could get into Stanford and then graduate despite missing class for weeks at a time to join her parents on their international junkets.

So nice to be a member of the privileged elite class. She can spend the year with Chelsea Clinton to fine tune her game.

If I were president, I wouldn’t publicize where my kids were going to college. They’ll be too much the focus and too vulnerable to whatever kooks are around.

Privacy, people, privacy......

Very nice.

And what is she planning to do during her gap-year?

I personally think it would be better to continue her studies w/o taking a year off. She would learn more, in more ways than one.

She'll need that year to practice signing her name in cursive without spelling mistakes. It's a huge advancement from the X of days past......

Party with Prince Harry. Seriously, if she was my daughter, I would say no unless she's joining the Peace Corps and ends up getting stationed in Micronesia.

Just think how carefully and thoroughly Harvard considered her application and the implications of turning it down.

Not “editor”. She’ll be like her malignant father and be “President” of it. That way she won’t have to write anything. Losers...affirmative-action losers.

“Merit”, when referring to getting into Harvard, does not have a single, easily defined meaning.

A lot of students there are AMAZING PEOPLE. When I interview them, sometimes I think they should be interviewing me.

But, Harvard is a big and incredibly successful business as well, and they are always looking for an edge. Malia Obama is an investment by Harvard in their future, and, as such, how smart she is or what she’s accomplished is meaningless.
