The meeting did occur, but it was a “Hey, just wanted to make sure you absolutely knew this wasn’t your fault and you have no guilt” thing, not a “Because we are you leaders we have the power to declare you clean” thing. I can’t find any news stories about it though but I am pretty sure it happened
