In a forum, esp. the religion one here, one is often pinged to a reply because they were also involved in the exchange with the poster being replied to. It does not infer that all those who are included are on one side or the other, but may be interested and respond further.

But meanwhile even if there is little pronounced effect of the boycott you certainly cannot (not that you necessarily are) criticize those who choose to boycott Target. History certainly would be critical of those who refused to boycott Nazi Germany based on the rationale that it would have little to no impact. Meanwhile the Left certainly believes in the efficacy of boycotts.

Which you cannot prove, and evangelicals at least have traditionally been the most opposed of homosexual marriage (only 3% of American evangelical pastors somewhat agree that there is nothing wrong with homosexual marriage, and 87% opposed it, as did 99% of Protestant pastors who hold to very conservative theology, and 76-79% of evangelical overall. Regardless, simply because they are inconsistent does not mean they should be criticized for this boycott action. A person who typically fails to oppose iniquity is not to be criticized when they actually do so. What are you doing to make known your opposition to Target accommodating the sad disordered perverse sensibilities of a minority while discomforting and possibly endangering women with God-ordained sensibilities?
Let's make them really squeal, with something that is more real and observable than just names on an internet site.

That is exactly the issue. No more. No less.
Can we look at this situation under a magnifying glass?
The bible pounding group wants to just keep itself at a degree of “unpollution” that it considers appropriate.
But have they ever thought of letting themselves be “polluted” by a degree of God’s love that permits them to enter compromising situations from the viewpoint of the world?
This is starting to look like the way Jesus caught grief for meeting up with tax collectors and sinners and gluttons and drunkards.
You may reply that He urged all to repent and that would be quite true.
But you never get that to happen by showing nothing BUT wrath. That teaches the lesson that the essence of life itself is about wrath, rather than something that is beyond the wrath.
Will Target turn into a mecca for the sexually sinful? That might be turned by God into a good thing. This is where they can be preached to about a better way, but a mixed message that says “damn you as long as we get our own” is unconvincing. The evangelists of old visited the bowery and the skid row far more often than they visited the tony places in town.
And which is not opposed to showing grace to such, nor is opposition hypocritical, as (hopefully) boycott advocates are not claiming they not all sinners, but (hopefully) are not impenitently defending such and demanding accommodation for practicing it to the discomfort and possible danger of others who do not agree with it.
This is cheap and easy talk. One touchstone is, what is our sacrifice? It is very little, Target being a mediocre retailer.
At any rate I am not one of the million-plus, nor will I be, even though my visits have been rare. I am not going to cement myself into a rigid attitude just because a “Christian” mob is headed that way.
I’d want at least the courtesy that God showed to Sodom, visiting to see “Is this debauchery true?” Not even the permissiveness that the debauchery took advantage of, but the debauchery itself.
Who has prayed for Target? It sounds like very few.

I think we’ve been spoiled, we’ve expected society to be an oasis. Without thinking of the underpinnings of any lasting respite, which is not fig leaves. Just watch “liberals” make mincemeat of the situation. This has been, what, a week? You can bet lefty planners are not stunned, but have been ready for this with countermoves.
I can sympathize with the sentiment, however at some point we cannot cover every wall with foam padding. We have to be careful not to charge into it with uncovered heads.
