Hahaha...when I was in the USN, there were always running men when they were getting ready to pull away the gangway... I thought it was hilarious to see, but I will tell you, I made sure to never, EVER put myself in that position.

Ditto here. Shortly after I got out of the Navy, I got married and we went on a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. My new wife couldn't understand why I was always in such a damn hurry to get back to the ship promptly. She thought for sure, the ship would wait for everybody to get back on board.

Sure enough, a couple of passengers missed ship's movement and got stranded in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They had to buy plane tickets to the next scheduled stop where they rejoined the ship.

When we hit our first port of call, they hammered home the seriousness of missing movement.

Then, when they punished the first offenders, they made public how many there were and what the penalties were.

Next port of call, they reminded us, but didn’t hammer it home. We didn’t have any in our squadron who missed movement, but there were always men from other departments and squadrons.

LOL, ALWAYS someone.
