A couple of five-week-old kittens were named Shrek and Smurf by a rescue staff after they were found colored blue and green with permanent marker.
The naturally black-and-white cats were discovered with all of their white spots colored in and were brought to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue by the West Yorkshire Police.
This is a dreadful act of cruelty, and who knows what untold damage this may have caused, charity volunteer Katie Jane Lloyd told BBC.
The Bradford Cat Watch Rescue has sought help from veterinary poisons information services for assistance in cleaning Shrek and Smurf, according to BBC.
The kittens have been bathed repeatedly since they were found Monday, but the blue and green ink remains embedded in their fur.
Lloyd has posted a series of updates about the pair and most recently said the kittens were doing really well.
We have been nursing these kittens for the last 36 hours and they are now much brighter... in personality, she wrote on Tuesday. The color is fading and they are now taking their feeds well.
stuffings beaten out of them
Right our parents did not beat us but a swift smack on the behind or the WOODEN SPOON(In Italian families) was all that was needed.
Appauling but not unheard of.
Which if you check the Sharpie website, you will find is non-toxic.
My son recently had some pins implanted in his broken elbow. The doctor wrote on his arm with a Sharpie to mark which arm and surgical locations.
Stupidity more than cruelty. Stupid should hurt.
A) These cat paintings were probably done with non toxic hair dyes
B) The people who did this are stupid anal orifices beyond belief
C) These cats were not painted in order to participate in a dog-tearing-up-kitten event
I’m guilty, on all 3 counts.
Why you ax? ....OK...there it is [sigh]
We had a pure white [deaf] cat come to us as a stray. She tangled with a skunk. We got several cans of tomato juice ...put her in the set sink and washed and washed her to get the smell out. Wash, rinse, repeat. Imagine the worst. It was.
Rinsed her off, kept her snuggled in bath towels and stroked her, to calm her nerves. OMG!
Not thinking about the staining qualities of tomato ....poor cat was dyed a coral-pink color. She was all huffy and whatnot at us for about a week.
Guilty as charged. :)
[We’ve since learned about *Nature’s Miracle*]
When I was a kid I dyed my white cat blue. I used that stuff called bluing that my mother used in the laundry. Didn’t hurt the cat and he was beautiful.
We had a story here [can't find the link] about a stray dog, maybe in the UK, that was scribbled with marker
and another stray, spray painted [UK?]
Fixed it for you. The Islamic hadiths specify that dogs are to be killed.
Were they muslim? I hadn’t read that anywhere, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
I really wasn’t able to find any specific information on those who did this.
I imagine that there are more than a few people who would love to set off some fireworks in them.
I mean with them.
When they say “Bosnian”, they generally mean Muslim. If it was Christian, they would say “Bosnian Serb” or some such.
The thing that most impresses me about your story is that you are still alive to tell the tale of “wash, rinse, repeat”.
If my kitty hadn’t sent me to the e.r. during the process, there is no doubt in my mind she would have plotted a revenge at a later date. :)
It took 2 of us to *hold her* in the tub ....if the neighbors had heard the yowling ....they would have had good reason to call the cops.
It was as dreadful for us, as it was for the poor darling cat. How do you tell an animal ...*but this is for your own good*?
well, I guess I’m stupid too, because I’d shoot the little bastards who did this.
“No, Mini-Me, we don’t draw on our kitty. No, we don’t....”
