Police in Texas said a man accused of stealing steaks from Walmart led officers on a high-speed chase and struck a police car with meat tossed from his window.
Authorities said the suspect stole an undisclosed number of steaks from the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Longview just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The ensuing police chase reached speeds exceeding 100 mph and crossed two counties before the man was apprehended by Upshur County sheriff's deputies and East Mountain police.
East Mountain police Sgt. Marc Nichols said the suspect attempted to get rid of some of the pilfered meats while fleeing police.
"It appears that there's steaks and meats of some sort flying out the windows, and one of them bounced off my patrol car. That's not something you think of people stealing, especially running from the police in the process. Today was a new one," Nichols told KLTV.
Nichols said the suspect surrendered after stopping on Highway 271 in the Union Grove area.
Investigators said the suspect, whose name was not released, is believed to be a heroin user.
Did the police have a steak-out?
LOLOLOL....I saw that on the news tonight. At least they had good taste in meat....most of it was prime.
If he’s not throwing Armadillo Meat out the windows, I’m not interested.
Was this in the Tenderloin District?
If no Eastern European poultry was involved, no Czechen rubber chicken meets the road.
good thing the thief wasn;t homosexual, or he woudl have been throwing rump roasts
Best headline, ever.
[did they later grill the suspect?]
A couple years ago, in my town, we had a guy kill his neighbor and then get in standoff with the cops and he started throwing actual body parts or the victim at the cops. It was very disturbing.
The five-second rule states that food dropped on the ground will not be significantly contaminated with bacteria if it is picked up within five seconds of being dropped.
Best looking roadkill I have ever seen.
I have two big labs. The five-second rule does not apply in my house:)
Judging from his breath sometimes, I think my bulldog eats formerly living things he finds out back of the house.
Hardly plausible. But Fox undoubtedly broadcast the carnivore chase. Otherwise it would be viande lebief.
Crime scene by the pound! LOL at that picture.
I see what you did there.
From the link....

Hmmm...was he just wanting steak....or was he going to sell the steaks for a fix? We may never know.
Nice... Have a good evening.
Was his name Chuck?
Maybe he was just trying to tenderize 'em.
Well done by the police, especially for a situation that is so rare.
