Ted comes across as utterly fake. He looks like he's made a list of "conservative" stereotypes, and then created a persona to exemplify those stereotypes. Whatever or whoever Ted is at his core cannot be seen. He is a caricature of a conservative, not real at all.
One reason I prefer Trump is that he is a real person. Sure, he misspeaks sometimes--but all real people do that. It means he is not a trained politician, he is one of us.
He starts resembling the current occupant more and more in some very unwelcomed ways.
The current occupant and Cruz are almost alike in both temperament and professional training. Neither of them has the skills or experience to run an executive office. The mess that is the Obama presidency will only continue under a Cruz presidency. Thank goodness that is not likely to happen!
One of Cruz’ big identity issues happens to be the very basis of his campaign. To wit, he bought The Audacity to Win in bulk and gave copies to all his staffers. That was his blueprint for winning.
If you recall, Obama purposefully kept everything vague in ‘08. He was the blank slate upon which people etched their dreams...hope and change...hope and change.
Cruz’ plan to be similarly vague hit an insurmountable snag when Trump charged out of the gate promising to build the wall. That’s a concrete plan—and it’s far more than McCain ever put up against Obama.
This and similar issues led to a series of me-too Ted moments. They were uninspiring at best.
Lately the me-too moments have devolved into simple, unvarnished Trump-hate. You see this in Cruz’ supporters, too. It’s no longer about even the vague wonderful things Cruz would do; it’s about how terrible Trump is. I’m no expert, but I doubt anyone ever won a presidential primary based on how much they hate the other guy.
I see the "image" management thing (i.e, Trump is one thing in public and another thing in private) that Manafort was talking about has gulled you completely and unquestioningly.
It will be real interesting to see how all the Trump supporters feel when his "real person" believes he has no counterbalance and he decides to go "double-down" and smash-mouth on folks like you, when the core Democrat liberal he has been until 9 months ago emerges from the Tranny-safe bathroom at Trump Tower and you've had enough of the schtick.
Of course I discovered in a debate yesterday with FReeper screen-named, "dynoman," how attractive he finds trans-sexuals and men who prefer to act and look like women in bathrooms and elsewhere.
Wasn't long ago we called such people perverts.
Now we just call them Trump's more perverted "Liberal NYC Values" apologists.
The quality of poster here at FR seems to have changed over the years, or maybe emboldened under the smash-mouth umbrella of the Trump persona they feel more comfortable about outing themselves, particularly in this election season.
FReegards!
