Correct. If anyone were to check, they would find that the first several times Trump made this statement, his exact quote was: “They say I could shoot...” etc.

Trump didn't proclaim this himself, he was rolling his eyes at a media report that made the assertion.
Oh, for crying out loud, HE DID SAY THAT. Watch the video linked to below. Is that Donald Trump speaking, or is it an imposter?

I realize he said this in half jest, but, remarkably, it is true. He sure wouldn't lose in Freeper support, based on the cultish following he has here, in this once-conservative website.
It was words that came out of his mouth, not a reporter's, so your defense Trump has no merit.

You're pretty thick, aren't you?
He said it to mock the press assertions.
so your defense Trump has no merit.
Whatever you say...:-)
Have you tried breathing into a paper bag? It might help clear your head a little.

That is an excellent assessment of the current state of the Cruz campaign. I have not heard one new or interesting idea for a long time. Just a lot of Trump is a disaster talk. That doesn’t win campaigns...got to have some vision as well.

Here is a link to one of the earliest citations of the quote. Who is the "they" Trump is alluding to?

By the way, if you insist on insulting me, do it on the board like a man, not in a FReepmail, like a coward.

You see this in Cruz supporters, too. Its no longer about even the vague wonderful things Cruz would do; its about how terrible Trump is. Im no expert, but I doubt anyone ever won a presidential primary based on how much they hate the other guy. I see Cruz's support as stemming from emotions. He crafted an image based on the most "conservative" stereotypes, and uses that persona to try to create "warm fuzzies" among his followers--but says little about policy or how, exactly, he's going to create this wonderful world that he's promising.
His campaign is actually very liberal in that many liberals campaign on promises of utopia, with few specifics on how they will perform in office. Liberal campaigns, too, rely on hate-mongering and avoid talking about issues. It is no wonder that Cruz is being rejected.

But it wasnt a Federal law that started this mess. It was Charlottes doing. The state law was to remedy that. Although so many so-called conservatives seem to be taking more umbrage over that latter attempt to rectify the situation than the original pro-pervert city law.Looking at it too short-sighted. It was all the hate crimes/protection of minorities - no matter what made them a minority/and other Federal edicts that kept overstepping the Constitution and the People in the States that caused the latest row. Every time a State tries to use it's powers of jurisdiction given them by the 10th Amendment, some Federal "Judge" or even SCOTUS then claims Federal Authority trumps what the States and the People want.
Without backtracking some of the "thought control/hate crime/pervs have more rights than normal people laws", we will continue to see this crap happen. Let's face it, it was proven to be a real cluster when the Congress decided it needed to pass a law to say we needed to enforce existing laws in regards to sanctuary cities - the whole system has become so corrupted by so many laws that adding new laws to "supplement/define" existing laws isn't the answer.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....
