If Donald Trump is the nominee in the fall most, nearly all, of us will likely vote for him. But please don't kid yourself that he is anything but a New York Liberal. Maybe he actually believes some of the hot button rhetoric that has brought him to this point. But his history should give no one who isn't delusional the idea that if manages to get elected he won't govern just a nudge to the right of Hillary Clinton. That nudge will be enough come November, but everyone should be clear about what they're actually voting for.
Trump’s most conservative trait is his ability to distinguish things that are important from things that are not. Would that many here shared that trait.
Conservatism is not wholly defined by one’s willingness to pander on social issues. Defining it that way got us Hastert, Livingstone, and Gingrich - three reasons why, when tried in the court of public opinion, Bill Clinton got away with it. Because his holier-than-thou persecutors turned out to be not so holy after all.
