No joke. I went to Sears the other day to get a filter for my shop vac. I found a couple of other items on sale and on clearance that I also needed. I go to check out, have to wait for someone, then the clearance item doesn’t ring up and the clerk asks me how much it was so I tell her. Then the sale item doesn’t ring up right and so I correct her, take her to where it is so she can see the price. She complains to me (a customer!) about how they are always changing the prices and it doesn’t match the ads and the computers are never right. I worked retail when I was young so I blew it off to her as ‘pitfalls of working retail’ but I would NEVER ever badmouth the company to a customer. So ten she needs an over ride it took 3 calls to a supervisor and almost 5 minutes for the supervisor to show up. If it haden’t been such a good price I would have left.
And don’t get me started on Kmarts - I gave up on them years ago.
Pro shopping tip: Once I saw a price for a dozen eggs at walmart that defied belief (30 cents a doz). I took a pix with my smartphone and when the eggs rung up higher, I showed the clerk and got the displayed price.
It is a lot like walking into a Social Security office.
