Yes, there is a tendency for EQs and eruptions to occur around full and new moons. At the full moon the moon’s gravity is pulling the earth one way while the sun’s gravity is pulling the earth the other way. At the new moon, both bodies are pulling at the earth from the same direction, with potentially greater effect. These events don’t necessarily occur exactly at the full or new moon, but often a few days later as the pull pressure builds up. I have been looking at this phenomenon for a while and major events do tend to occur in that time frame.
