Fast-food mega company McDonalds has big plans for the future, and it doesnt include $15-an-hour minimum wage order-takers. The futuristic McDonalds will replace those entry-level workers with kiosks where customers can place their own order, according to a BizPac Review article.
The first model of the new 6,500 square-foot McDonalds will be opened this summer in Missouri, and will include many new interactive features. In Chicago, the company is already experimenting with a self-serve coffee station again eliminating the need for workers.

Robot tax
Imagine how disgustingly filthy these kiosks will be, cant stand touchscreens in retail settings, yuck.

Throw away rubber gloves are dirt cheap.
I bet you can..
Why not? It just requires the proper programming.
No, robots will make $20 an hour because having an employee carries roughly a 1/3rd hidden load for the employer. The boss pays the emp’s share of SS and has an accounting burden maintaining all the typical records req’d. The robot will not make; but the employer will save 100% on his disability insurance. I have only had an employee once in my multi-business career, but at least in CA, disability insurance is very costly. I can’t recall exactly but in 1991 my $1K a week salesman who never touched nor lifted anything but the on-off switch on his computer (a 286!!) and a pencil/pen and maybe a shipping label or FedEx waybill or two cost nearly $200 a month in state disability insurance. No doubt, the robots will break now and again, so this cost does not fully go away, it morphs into a repair.
Problem with democrats forcing people out of work, is now since I keep my skills up, and work ridiculous over time, I will now be forced to take care of each person thrown out of work by democratic policies, and each new person out of work will absolutely become another cancellation of my vote.
If the minimum wage is $15/hour robots should only make $9/hour and should only be counted as 3/5 of a person.
If you want human interaction (and E. coli), go to Chipotle.
Robots won’t spit on your food or refuse to serve you if you’re a cop either.
When they become self-aware, the great humans versus robot burger-makers war.
True, robots do, and will, break. I worked for several (8) years as a field tech for Redbox and managed roughly 240 kiosks spread out over a very large area. Well built and well maintained machines don’t break as often as you would think. One or two maintenance techs could handle a medium sized franchise territory easily. IMO...
They will lose.
They have no real sense on what an excellent burger tastes like.
They would never do what you suggested because it makes sense but it doesn’t make them and their friends money so they would get little benefit from it .
It’s like why so many people who live in San Francisco need to get aid to pay rent . Nancy Pelosi herself benefited from it by collecting that rent paid for by the government (of course once the government started paying the price went up and up )
That’s how Valerie Jarrett made her money in Chicago etc
No worries about robots spitting in your food.
Has anyone noticed that bus boys are disappearing? In addition to taking orders and bringing food, waiters and waitresses are having to take away the dirty dishes and clean the tables.
They have been playing with order kiosks off and on for more than 20 years. I remember being in a McD’s between Dallas and Houston in the early 90s where they had order kiosks that weren’t being used. And I saw them in a train station in Europe a few years ago. (Those machines only seemed to have the local language, so I had to go to the counter to order in English).
I suppose some exec has said “this time will be different”.
Exactly. 80/20 fat content, for flavor. Robots have no fat.
Soon it’s going to be our problem because what are we going to do with massive numbers of unemployable youths (who happens to be Minority) without any skills?
Read that the owner of a future McDonald's in Missouri is planning to offer "all-you-can-eat" french fries to customers. Their french fries suck since they changed what they're fried in.
