I hate to sound crass, but somebody that stupid should not be having children.

It's a fight or flight panicked confusion thing, I'm sure. The information didn't register for the parent of the dead child immediately. I'd not dwell on the immediate reaction to a parent finding their child shot in the head.

Yeah, it was crass and a little insensitive.
