She was nuts to leave her car. Plus, if I drove in the desert, I would keep several gallons of water in the trunk. Food is immaterial in short-term survival situations of ten days or less. Exposure will kill you first - possibly within hours, then thirst within days. Only way lack of food kills in that timeframe is if one is diabetic or has some other medical condition.
Looks like a beautiful place in which to have a “walkabout” - only one would want to be a bit more prepared than she was.
A map indicates there is really only one major road to Phoenix through that area. Why did she get off the road?
She probably doesn’t want to hear this, but at her age, this Lady should stop going that far into the dry Arizona forest unless there is another person (not just a dog!) with her.
She is very lucky her body held out, and that none of the plants eaten were poisonous.
I am amazed she found a forest in Arizona. Some relatives moved to Phoenix area and there were no trees there!

Nice elk skull and antlers.
Wonder if anybody picked ‘em up.
she wasn’t arrested for defacing nature?
This is the second story where someone was saved by spelling out that word. I’ll have to remember it.
Hmmm...Maybe she'll carry realy, really long extension cords in the future...
