Written in 1974...

The "Moties" used a solar sail to propel an interstellar space probe, using laser light and the solar wind for propulsion.

More like an active solar sail as opposed to a passive one.

I worked on a satellite in 1980s that had a solar sail for torque balance.

Go back to Jules Verne and see if any covers of his book ‘Voyage to the Moon’ (or was it “Journey to the Moon”) had a similar “sail”.

Still, a spectacular sight to see.
