That is not yet a viable solution, at least not widespread enough to sustain a population.
And don't make me think of the Frankenstein freaks that will result from such unethical abominations.
Today? No. But it's worked with lab rats, the fundamental approach is sound. It's probably just a matter of time before it is tried with humans, and then it will scale as demand grows.
