Utility poles are used because of right of way circumvention. On the flip side, I'm sure there are some horrible "H" fields and general noise issues being so close to 2,300 to low voltage transformers.

IMHO, a few dozen pellet rifle rounds will put it out of commission. If you really want to have fun, make a shot noise generator and the whole thing will record nothing but static.
