This older article is more informative than today's, but it's been announced that the new nickname is River Hawks. No word yet on whether the squirrels will modify that to Hicks or Hoax.
FTR, Susq U is a small university in central PA. Library parking lot is perhaps the smallest in the nation. How they get under the ADA radar is a mystery, but if you don't have a bicycle you're gonna feel the microagression.

But, but, but, what if I’m offended that they dropped “Cursaders”? LOL! I know. I’d be told to sit down and STFU.

I am only cool with this if the new name is KillAllMuslims.

Squirrels are offended that the school would adopt an apex predator as their new choice of mascot.

Personally I’d have chosen Rabbits. Crusader Rabbit was an old tv cartoon.
Or in further deference to the new overlords, a pretty goat mascot might have been appropriate.
The state of PA needs to do something about those tomahawk signs on the highways, too. So disrespectful! tsk!

Isn’t changing the name a microagression to the memories of the Christians who laid down their lives to oppose Mohammedanism. Had these Christians not made the ultimate sacrifice, there would be no Susque U!
How ungrateful and hypocritical!

You know the engineers of political correctness have done a great job when institutions don’t even wait for someone to complain before making the move.
Sad.

We, the easily offended people.
The Founding Fathers would be disgusted.

I live in the hinterlands of PA and regularly haunt the college libraries between State College and Scranton. James Carville likened this area to Alabama. He wasn’t exaggerating.
And yet, lately you’re more likely to see muslims than Amish. I’m not sure what attracts them to middle of nowhere, but here they are.

The great Mark Steyn, in a different context, commented on the prevalence of Muslim names for sports teams representing Muslim schools in the the USA, while names like "The Crusaders" for school teams are considered non-PC.
Says Steyn, "I can't wait for the California sporting calendar circa 2015: the San Diego Jihadi vs the Oakland Culturally Sensitives, the Malibu Hezbollah vs. the Santa Monica Inoffensives, the Pasadena Sword of the Infidel-Slayers vs. the Bakersfield Self-Deprecators, the San Jose Decapitators vs. the Berkeley Mutually Respectfuls."
