As I’ve said to the many students I’ve taught algebra, geometry, etc. to over the years, learning math teaches you to think and reason.
I think it’s reasonable to ditch algebra. All these many decades since Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, college Algebra I, college Algebra II, Trig and Logistics, I’ve not used them whatsoever.
Mr D (DiPasquali) told us ... “Don’t try to understand Algebra ... just learn the rules and do the calculations by the rules”
And the abject failure of the newer generations to deal with the subjects is reflected in their politics.
That is OK, burger flippers do not need math skills, and the MS tells them all they need to know about who to vote for.
I didn’t see that many learn to think and reason, but they should have from advanced math. It’s above the level of most, or they lack the desire to study.
Which is exactly why the left abhors it.
The only class I ever flunked in high school was geometry and boy did I catch hell for it. I told my mom that I would never need it when I grow up and I was right. I caught hell for nothing.........
