My dad as a kid saw the old boy’s uniforms, sword, Schofield pistol and other stuff in a trunk in his two maiden great aunts attic when visiting in the 30s. Only thing I saw was a couple of photos of him my grandma had.
Thirty plus years in the Army and the last few years as Arthur MacArthur’s First Sargeant in, I think, “I” Company of the 13th Infantry.
My grandma mentioned a couple of times about her mother—oldest daughter—and the two above sisters playing with little Dougie as a kid. But he was a boy and younger and a bit of a pest. :<}
