spoiler alert.....

Haas F1 finishes sixth!!!

Romain Grosjean’s sixth place ensured Haas became the first brand-new team to score points on their Grand Prix debut since Mika Salo finished sixth for Toyota in 2002. Haas are also the first American team to score points since the similarly named (but completely unaffiliated) Team Haas finished sixth with Alan Jones at Monza in 1986. Worth noting that Grosjean only finished in the top six once last season with Lotus…

I think Haas’ plan of how to create a new F1 team will be the new model. Maybe even McLaren could follow for 2017......... ;)

Gene Haas looks like such a low key guy, almost like he’s dazzled just to be in the middle of all this.

Just got an LG 55inch OLED.
OMG makes my 2008 Sony look like a tube type set.
I may never leave the family room except to pee during race season.

Great Job Team Hass!!!

Despite the attempt to Torpedo Team Hass by the rest of the Grid this week end.

First the T-Bone in the Pits and then the crash in the Race.

A lot of that 6th place finish was taking advantage of the red flag from their teammate’s crash. Grosjean never actually pitted, and was milking those tyres for all they were worth by the end of the race. Looking at the train stacked up behind him, my guess is that under normal race conditions you were probably looking at 11th or 12th.

Even so, that’s not a bad finish, and when presented with the chance, they made a brilliant move and the veteran driver’s skills paid off to make a decent finish for a starting team into a very good one. So, I’m not complaining, it’s actually a compliment. This team’s race strategy is far more mature than you would expect.

Another “exciting” year of F1 with Mercedes taking 1st and 2nd.

Like deja vu all over again. Why can’t they make it more competitive ??

“i still say dump the green crap and lets go racing “

It looks like they are all in for hybrid technology for power.

Saw a Porsche Panamera today which is “hybrid” meaning a V6 and an electric motor.

Given VW Group’s racing experience, it can be said they migrate race developed technology to consumer vehicles.

problem is, it makes them much more costly and adds another layer of things to fail/go wrong

Haas F1 Team Earns Points in Debut Race: the Haas F1 Team, owned by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team owner Gene Haas [Stewart-Haas Racing #4, #10, #14, #41], made history before and after the 32nd Australian Grand Prix Sunday in Melbourne. The organization's debut in Round 1 of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the first time an American team had competed in Formula One since 1986. And after ending a 30-year drought for an American squad in Formula One, Haas F1 Team ended another drought for an organization's maiden F1 race. After starting 19th, Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean finished an impressive sixth, earning the team eight points in the constructor standings.(full post at haasf1team.com)(3-20-2016)

Ferrari 'Air Box' fire on the Kimster's car.

For an Air Box fire there has to be combustible material in the air box.

How could this happen in the Air Box? Normally the engine sucks any small fire into the engine extinguishing the fire.

Options

1. An Injection system issue which allowed fuel into Air Box. Now this means that fuel caught on fire under the air filter and moved past the air filter to come out of the air intake.

2. An intake issue such as an intake valve timing off or burned intake valve allowing combustible material into the Air Box, burning the air filter and coming out the air intake.

3. Other combustible material such as oil in the Air Box caught fire. How did oil get in the Air Box, via the sump breather into the air intake system? Was the Kimster's engine oil level too high or was there an engine issue pushing oil into the Air Box such as compression blow by? You know piston ring failure.

4.Or lastly, injecting extra fuel or a performance-boosting component into the combustion process via the the Air Box for performance increase!

Let me know your thoughts on this strange fire.

i think one sounds most likely

two wouldn't you hear odd engine noise

three it was bright flame and no real smoke like i'd expect from an oil fire

forth i don't even want to go there, but i hope not

Regarding two, also maybe smoke out tail pipe.

Agree on three, did not burn like an oil fire or a carbon fiber fire.

Just wonder how fuel traveled up stream?
