You are going to need one of these

The point is that it does not matter when any tech is ready or possible if there is no political will. There is none now and until that changes in a big way it will never actually happen. And the new tech to do that will not come from the US until we have a decent educational system again ... and again, there is no political will for that either.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve been looking for some thing to happen for the past 60 years. Until there is a drastic change, the US, for one, will be contemplating its collective navel and the Kardasians ...

whatever technology it takes to live successfully on Mars is not available today. what gets people dreaming is the scope and speed of technological change.

Basically a lot of the stuff we do today — we could not even imagine doing when we were in high school.

You have to say the same thing to kids in high school today as to what the future looks like because the speed of technoligical change has only accelerated.

Without political will things will change more slowly. But they will change.

Most of the technology will come from the USA. But other countries will contribute.

Change will not be in a good direction and may make it impossible to ever have a manned deep space program in the US again for several lifetimes.

Also I wouldn’t be so sure the tech will come from the US as the tech lead we made over the rest of the world came from the Apollo program. Other countries, like China will re-create the Apollo program and face new hurdles which they will have to overcome with new tech - meanwhile, nothing happens in the US while China/Russia maybe India and Japan militarize the moon and Lagrange points. Leaving the US with nothing but empty dreams - such are the wages of radical socialism now sweeping the country.

Apparently, through wishful thinking.

Mars will have to have an atmosphere, and it will have to be introduced by us, using nitrogen and oxygen found in the asteroids, and probably not even the familiar Mars-Jupiter belt, but from the outer Solar System. The alternative is, live in a Habitrail, like that Boy in the Plastic Bubble -- and we all know how that came out.

Fill a large rocket with algae and amphioxis and crash it on the poles. Wait 500 million years, and voila!

Finally we’re thinking in human terms...

I gave your video a like on YouTube. It was nicely done and soothing in a way. It’s nice to think optimistically in the face of humanities sometimes ugly nature.

Actually up until about 1970, we lived in a world where it was thought we had unlimited natural resources. The last 50 years since that time have been anomalous in terms of American history.

You could easily replace the word renewable with unlimited and the meaning would be about the same.

Right now renewable also means higher cost energy. In the future renewable will also mean lower cost energy. Thats’ when the real revolution begins.

When someone pays serious attention to the 200 field equations by James Clerk Maxwell as field equations instead of throwing out all but four and turning those into vector equations may be something along those lines is possible ... those four are the basis of everything we know about the entire electromagnetic spectrum - without Maxwell, Einstein would have remained a doodler in the patent office, and Tesla would never have discovered alternating current, there would be no cell phones, no transmission of electricity. If you had any of those things it would run on 12 volt DC and use wind up cranks to charge batteries.

So what lies in those 196 equations? Who knows. But there are apparently hints of unlimited free energy, instantaneous communication, and the ability to step from one place to another - no matter the distance: feet, miles, light years - all the same.
