You’re getting into why Linux isnt for everyone either.:-)
I appreciate your sentiments, but just pretend I’m Trump to get a feel for my attitude at this point. :-D
It is best to clean your PC during off hours, midnight would be typical. Generally only a 30 minute job if you do it regularly.
I never had to clean my PC, ever, either. Because I don’t install junk on my PC.
You got essentially the same protection on any modern Windows OS that you do on OS-X. The junk can’t install unless you give it permission. The difference is, most of the malware is wrtten for PCs, not Macs. But that is changing now that Mac market share is increasing, and if you blindly click “ok” you’ll be “cleaning” your Mac too - Or worse; the big trend in malware these days is to encrypt the user’s important files and then make him pay ransom to get them back. This Happened to one of my friend’s dad just the other day - on his Mac.
I saw some stats from Sparkfun the other day. They have data about the OS that is used to visit their website. I was surprised to see that the Apple growth was very small, as was the Windows growth. What was growing significantly was Android.
Your friend can buy MP3s from Amazon’s music store instead. Then there is no portability issue, the songs are MP3 format, and he’s also not stealing. Amazon even has a little app to download the music and move it into the correct folder, add to iTunes. or whatever.
remember, they were doing this when limewire was active. I don’t know how they do it now.
