Sounds good. But you're still going to have to develop a set of rules. Of course, once you've developed a set of rules and selected party officials you'll be (drum roll) The Establishment!!!
I’m not a member of your damned party and couldn’t care less about how it operates internally. Evil is as evil does.
This is really kind of a win-win scenario. If Trump wins the nom, I’m happy. If Trump loses due to gop-e shenanigans, then the gop faction of the uniparty is most likely destroyed in the process. I’m not as happy with that scenario, but I’m still pretty happy to take that as second prize.
Until then we are basically just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while watching the Iceberg as we speed towards it.
I know, and I fear it.
Very often people think ‘it’s too late’ right before there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
An establishment designs rules to keep power. Notice how the GOP-E is changing the rules prior to the convention?
We need a political party that:
1. conforms better to popular vote.
2. cuts down the confusion, more uniformity in the primary process.
3. has a number of county-wide primaries for the first three months so that each early debate and town hall results in an actual vote rather than worthless early polling. Counties randomly selected, and a tight timeline for each so that campaign blitzes are brief, less ‘gamed’, and less expensive.
A lot of people feel the way you do.
Not comparing you with democrats, but I was curious how democrats felt after Obama. They said, “The system’s rigged. No point in voting anymore.”
Most of us peons in ‘flyover country’ never liked NAFTA for example. We saw factories shut down in coordination with it, and that appears to confirm our suspicions.
“No Parties, No Politicians”
Exactly what George Washington wanted.
And I think that people will continue to grow less loyal to party affiliation over time. The Information Age is closing in on them.

If it ain’t the people who select the nominee, then why do we vote?
It damn well better be the people !
PARTY rules FReind, you want to pass a law where the government makes them?
If your not a Republican, why are even commenting about the Republican primary??? Jees, that is strange.
To create the perception that we are in control of the process.
Nope, I don’t want DC making party rules.
But Cruz supporters need to ask themselves what the point is in planning for a convention fight rather than a fair fight.
Hey, I’ll vote for either Cruz or Trump in November.
But that ain’t MY decision, it’s the GOP’s.
Cold hard barbed wire up the butt reality.
Hannity isn’t a registered republican either. But he’s a patriotic conservative. If things get too fishy at the convention, he’s going to call for a new conservative party.
Hannity probably favored Cruz all along, but now he believes in this:
“Unity or bust.”
Politics.
Why did the Allies use every means necessary to win WWII?
Because the alternative was nightmarishly unacceptable..
What if Trump actually does have 53% of popular republican support, protests the challenged primary, runs as an independent, and gains more support and energy than whoever is annointed?
Would you stick with the party even if it’s weaker than Trump?
I’ll pick the strongest horse in either case.
I agree that we did some nightmarish things in WWII. The war was desperately close.
However, a primary is not WWII.
A convention challenge is one ego refusing to acknowledge that he’s not as popular.
Trump shows up with less than 1237 delegates.
Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich show up with a combined total of delegates greater than 1237.
No one wins on the first ballot.
Then, Rubio and Kasich throw their delegates to Cruz.
Game over, on the second ballot.
Fair and square, that’s how Conventions work.
You heard it here, first. Read ‘em and weep.
The Trump party ends in Ohio .
Are you denying that some people do not get borderline psycho during these times?
Especially when you toss a 10 billion megaton thermonuclear bomb like Donald Trump in the mix?
