Truly enjoyed Rome when it was on HBO. Thought Lindsey Ducan superb. Understood at one time a motion picture was considered. Guess funding fell through?
Appropriate given how history tends to repeat itself.
Maybe we should hang out in front of HBO’s office and repeatedly call for justice and more seasons of Rome. ;)
Amen FRiend.
Lol
Off topic of Rome. Have you seen the WGN series, Salem? Very warped, but at the same time captivating series. Also really enjoyed Spartacus on Stars.
My series watching time is limited right now, but I’ll them to my future watchlist. Thank you for the recommendations. :)
“Reign” (Mary of Scots) also a good one.
Sounds like it could be good as Long as they don’t portray a third of the population of Greece, Rome and Egypt as Negroes.
The two Borgia series. One was Euro and some different actors, and the other was US.
Borgia with John Doman ran 3 seasons.
The Borgias with Jeremy Irons ran 3 seasons.
Both are available on Netflix

“Rome” was originally intended to run 4 or 5 seasons, but production was so expensive they had to shut down after two. Really enjoyed it as well; one of the best features is the way they intertwined the historical drama (involving larger-than-life-figures with whom few people could identify) with the lives of Pullo and
Vorenus, flawed yet sympathetic individuals that the audience could invest in emotionally.
Agreed! And weren’t Pullo and Vorenus actual historical figures in the Leigon?
That’s another really cool thing - those two guys were just mentioned, kind of in an off-hand fashion, in one of Julius Caesar’s works (if I remember correctly), with essentially no detail, and apparently the writers picked up on them as kind of blank canvas they could use to advance that end of their tale. And with that they did a masterful job.
The scene of Pullo walking down a crowded Roman street with the young son he rescued in Egypt was just such a fitting end to the series (as much as I hated to see it end).
Excellent characters but fictitious. I had to buy season 1 and 2. The scene where Marc Antony is laying down the terms to Brutus and Cassius after Ceasar's murder was the show stopper, the very best scene of an excellent series.
“About your Father......”
Loved the ending!
“Thirteen!”
Can anything top “I Claudius” from 1976?
