The Real Battle within the GOP (TBR Exclusive)
The Briefing Room ^ | March 13, 2016 | A.B. Raxas

There is a war in the GOP going on. Turn on the news every night, click over to any internet forum or social media platform and you’ll see the volleys of fire burning bright.

We are told by some that this war is between ‘we the people’ and ‘the establishment’. That, of course, is the line that many politicians want you to believe so you can feel like you are part of a large group of the ‘silent majority’ finally standing up against some dark room power in Washington D.C.

Yes and no. It’s between the empiricists and the rationalists to some degree, though there is quite a lot of cross-pollination from the libertarians on the empiricist side. Case in point: all the people from Koch world in the Trump campaign.

It is my fervent hope that sensible policy free of absolutist fairy dust will be the result of all of this and that our nation will get about the business of its own business as a result.

The article is accurate to some degree. But it is a 2 dimensional explanation in a multi-dimensional world.

Nixon Revenue Sharing transferred power from the states to the central government. Gradually that has shifted party establishment power from the states to the Central Committee.

Suppose Trump or Cruz, after nominated, gives no campaign role to anyone in the establishment. No role to the Roves, Murphys and other establishment figures. No role to the neo-cons who gave us the Iraq war. The establishment individuals would have to scale down to work for governors and state organizations.

The current national struggle would go to the state level. Blue areas of both Red, Purple and Blue states that have been written off by the establishment(s) might get some attention as they could tip the balance of power in struggles for control of the state parties.

Currently, most Trump and many Cruz supporters are quite ignorant of the state parties.

*** Currently, most Trump and many Cruz supporters are quite ignorant of the state parties. ***

I was checking out the 13 new campaign finance chairs Cruz named. The other ones, besides Neal Bush. Connected to the GOP, but also involved in things like rail initiatives for freight, and high speed passenger trains at a state level.

One, Don Huffines, maybe, mentioned that since TX voters said No to the Trans Texas Corridor, there were rail projects that are alternatives.

Oh, Huffines is either a state senator or State Rep.

Donald Trump

He's an American and he loves his country.

He's not 'owned' by anybody

He's not a Washington insider or an establishment politician

He's an astonishingly successful businessman, CEO- and charismatic.

His remarkable children are a testament to his character and abilities

Donald Trump was the ONLY one with guts enough to stand up to the corrupt in Washington, to say what we the people have been screaming about-but have been ignored.

We all say we need another revolution against the corrupt government. Well, it's here and Donald started it. He tells the RINOS and Libs what we cannot. HE IS OUR VOICE .

is a brilliant business man and he will surround himself with the most brilliant, talented America has to offer-per his cabinet and advisers. This is the kind of man we need to run the country.

He Will make America great again. He will make America RESPECTED again.
