Actually if you look at the runways at the old SAC bases they were all more than 12,000’ long. I thought it was for the B52’s.

Yes they were originally lengthened for the B-36. I am sure the B-52 pilots enjoyed the long runways too.

Actually if you look at the runways at the old SAC bases they were all more than 12,000’ long. I thought it was for the B52’s. 15,000 feet. Built for B-47's. LONG take-off in that bird.
