That’s a good point. I’ve said I’d support a Trump/Cruz ticket, but adding Cruz may actually be dangerous, from a legal perspective.

Probably best to pick a VP without this hanging over their head.

Best to pick a VP where you don't have to try explaining away what you said about him earlier.

Only way I see this happening is, making it totally open, that cruz will vp only for moments while he is nominated for the supremes. Then trump picks his vp of choice.
do it above board, cruz gets what he wants, they both go in with the agreement. Now if cruz does not get confirmed (not likely) but possible. Trump owes nothing. Cruz will not win the nomination otherwise.
