If he goes in with a majority of delegates, it would not be a brokered convention.It would be if he had the majority but not the 8 state threshold or the 1237 or whatever the magic number is. If he goes in 10 short and doesn't win outright on the first ballot they can pull any kind of dirty trick they want. Any other candidate it wouldn't matter, after the first ballot the other delegates coalesce around the guy with the most delegates.
We'll see.

If he goes in with a majority of delegates, it would not be a brokered convention. That assumes that the rules won't suddenly change the day before the convention opens. Don't make the mistake of thinking they wouldn't try that.
