Ted’s tent preacher theatrics are a turnoff to me too, and I’m Christian. There have been so many “devout” frauds over the years that when a guy shows up on the national scene touting his own piety and moral superiority, my first reaction is to cringe.

I’d vote for Ted if he wins the nomination, but I hope he doesn’t. His lies and sleazy campaign tactics have already done what countless “holier than thou” moral crusaders before him have helped do: make Christians look nutty and hypocritical.

My gut says that Trump will actually DO something—or a lot of somethings.

I fear that Cruz (NOT natural-born CITIZEN BTW—that pesky “Constitutional thingy” again) wil give US PLEBES very good explanations as to why he doesn’t EVEN TRY.

I tend to agree. I am about as fundamentalist a Christian as you can get but I would vote for Donald Trump before Ted Cruz. Your “holier than thou” comment is one I find particularity apt.

All are sinful but what else is new! Yet conservative Christians seem to be looking for some perfect evangelical politician preacher combination and will refuse to have anything to do with a imperfect Donald Trump but their "perfect" candidate would stand no chance of being elected as President.

To be brutal honest I think they would be happy with loosing. They could relax in the knowledge they kept themselves "pure" and can go home and sit on the sidelines and complain while an Obama mark 2 continues to destroy the USA

I think this is true and there's something else too. Almost all politicians publicly try to polish themselves so they don't expose (they think) any weakness in character or ideas. Everyone KNOWS that politicians certainly aren't the same in public life as they are in private life. It's an image they've crafted that they present to the public.

But with Trump you get the impression that he's essentially the same guy wherever he is. He seems genuine. And that's likely one of the key secrets to his success. It's the guiding mantra of his campaign..."Let Trump be Trump."

“Ted’s tent preacher theatrics are a turnoff to me too, and I’m Christian.”

...and just imagine how great that will go over with the general electorate. Cruz almost seemed to think that winning the Primary would mean waltzing into the White House.

Sorry Cruz, not quite that easy.
