Lots of voters, myself included, don’t watch television.
Haven’t for YEARS.
Cruz never had his own TV SHOW
Actually I never watched Trump's TV show either. But my point that America loves celebrities and that Trump's status as a real, red-blooded, American celebrity is extremely helpful to his cause. That just cannot be ignored.
What is being ignored (due in large part to his celebrity status) is his policy positions. They are often correct from a conservative point of view but just as often they poorly thought out and really, really poorly supported by Trump Rhetoric.
And worse, his policy positions are way too dynamic for my taste. Conservative principles are, after all, pretty static. We conservatives believe that the Founding Fathers had it pretty much right. Liberals don't agree with that. Their core belief system is really Marxism in its various forms.
Would Trump agree with that?
He might - today. Did he 10 years ago. 5 years ago? A month ago. I don't know but I doubt it.
Somehow even the normally level headed Freepers have found a way to willingly ignore all of this. My obviously oversimplified explanation is that they like Trump because he is an attractive and famous personality who can play the part of a conservative and provide admittedly great Sound Bytes. Today he can. And perhaps next week and next month. But next year? I'm not so sure.
